Industrial Partners and Academics meet at NQIT User Forum

On January 15 2016 we held the second of our twice-yearly User Forums – a half-day event bringing together existing and potential industrial partners with NQIT quantum researchers.

The aim of the afternoon was to update end users on the progress of the NQIT Hub, to attract new end users, and to explain how to access our Partnerships Fund for new quantum technology projects.

Guest speakers from our industrial partners told us their vision for quantum technologies. We heard about commercial quantum applications for telecommunications from British Telecom (BT) and for finance from QxBranch. We also heard about the applications of quantum computing from Origone.

Our User Engagement team explained how potential industrial partners can get involved with quantum information technology development through our Partnership Fund – if you have ideas for quantum technology projects that have early commercialization potential, please do get in touch.

We ended with a networking session where industrial visitors, including representatives from D Wave, M Squared Lasers, BAE Systems, Airbus, British Telecom, Thales, e2v and Fraunhofer, met with NQIT academics to discuss future collaborations.
