Almut Beige

Almut Beige is Head of the Theoretical Physics Group and a Reader in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds. Moreover, she currently chairs the next International Conference on Quantum Information Processing and Communication (QIPC 2015) [http://www.qipc2015.leeds.ac.uk] 13-18 September 2015 in Leeds. Up to now, Almut published more than 70 scientific papers, has an h-factor of 23 and more than 2000 citations listed on ISI Web of Science. In recent years,  she developed several strategies to manipulate open quantum systems [1,2,3,4] using measurements and dissipation for applications in quantum computing and networking. She also wrote articles revisiting field quantisation schemes and the scattering of light through two-sided optical cavities [5]. Most relevant for this project is her work on interconnecting atomic qubits in distant cavities [2,6].
