Winfried Hensinger is Professor of Quantum Technologies, co-director of the Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies and heads the Ion Quantum Technology Group at the University of Sussex. Within NQIT, Hensinger and his group work on the construction of the actual quantum computing modules. In particular, they work on the development of quantum information processing with long wavelength radiation, fabricate ion microchips and develop optimal ion transport within ion trap arrays. Hensinger and his team will also construct a two-node microwave ion trap quantum computer demonstrator device.
